Whether you’re anticipating surgery or are already in the healing stage, our priority is to deliver the highest quality patient experience. Our experienced team takes the time to learn about your individual needs and eye health, allowing us to tailor your care for comfort, clarity, and confidence. We’re here to make sure you feel informed, supported, and at ease throughout your entire journey.

Pre-Surgical Care

Strong pre-operative care plays a pivotal role in the success of any eye surgery. Before your scheduled procedure, our doctors conduct comprehensive evaluations to confirm your eligibility and address any potential concerns. We carefully monitor your condition to set the stage for a smooth, complication-free surgical experience.

Cataracts

Once your cataract surgery is on the calendar, following pre-surgical instructions precisely is essential. During your consultation, we will review your current medications and may recommend pausing certain ones, such as blood thinners or specific prostate medications. This preparation ensures optimal results and a safe surgery day.

  • Stop wearing contacts two weeks before surgery
  • Bring a driver to your appointment
  • Fast for a minimum of twelve hours before surgery if being sedated
  • Use pre-operative eye drops three days before surgery
  • Wash hair the morning of surgery if needed

On the day of surgery, our doctors will take precise measurements of your eyes to determine the best intraocular lens replacement for your vision. This step confirms your candidacy and helps ensure that any sedation is administered safely. Thorough preparation is key to a successful outcome.

Glaucoma Surgery

Without treatment, glaucoma can gradually damage the optic nerve, leading to irreversible vision loss. This condition is often caused by increased eye pressure due to fluid buildup. Surgical solutions may include shunts or implants, trabeculectomy, or selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT). Before surgery, a detailed pre-operative exam will be performed to ensure you and your doctor are fully prepared.

  • Stop taking any blood thinners or flagged prescription medications
  • Take prescription antibiotic eye drops leading up to surgery
  • Limit food and beverages starting at midnight the day before your surgery
  • Bring a driver to your appointment
  • No make-up, moisturizers, or jewelry
  • Comfortable loose clothing

On the day of surgery, it’s important to have transportation arranged and to have followed all pre-surgical instructions. Our team will make sure you’re in optimal health and fully ready for your procedure.

LASIK

Understanding the LASIK process means reviewing all available information, risks, and treatment options in detail. Your LASIK consultation will include an in-depth discussion about your eyes and lifestyle, but a final exam will confirm your candidacy before surgery day. Please prepare by following these guidelines:

  • Stop wearing contacts three weeks before surgery
  • Bring a driver to your appointment
  • Continue taking regular medications
  • No perfume or make-up
  • Eat a light breakfast or lunch
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing

These steps are designed to make your procedure day go as smoothly as possible. You’ll receive personalized instructions after your LASIK consultation to ensure you’re fully prepared.

Post-Surgical Care

Proper post-operative care is vital for healing and achieving the best vision possible. Our doctors will monitor your eye health in the weeks following surgery, confirm you’re taking the right medications, and address any concerns during your recovery.

Cataracts

Because driving is not advised for 24 hours after cataract surgery, please arrange for a ride home. We’ll provide sunglasses to protect your eyes from sunlight, dust, and debris.

  • Wear provided eye shields as you sleep for three nights following surgery
  • Get plenty of rest to promote proper healing
  • Relax and don’t overexert yourself
  • Take prescription antibiotic eye drops and anti-inflammatories
  • Take prescription pain relief if applicable
  • Avoid bending and any sudden movements for three days following surgery

We’ll give you detailed cleaning and care instructions to safeguard your eyes and support the best recovery results possible.

Glaucoma Surgery

Depending on the type of glaucoma surgery, you may spend three to four hours at the treatment center. Full recovery typically takes three to six weeks.

  • Avoid rubbing or scratching your eyes
  • Take all prescription medication provided by your doctor
  • Avoid heavy lifting and excessive activity
  • Avoid swimming pools

A follow-up appointment will be scheduled for the morning after your procedure. At that visit, your eye patch will be removed, your vision and eye pressure will be evaluated, and you’ll receive specific instructions for medications and aftercare.

LASIK

LASIK is a quick procedure, and most patients notice improvements almost immediately. Mild blurriness after surgery is normal and usually resolves with rest. To promote fast healing, follow these steps:

  • Utilize eye drops as recommended
  • Do not rub or squeeze your eyes for a week following surgery
  • Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes at all times
  • Wear provided eye shields as you sleep for three nights following surgery
  • Avoid make-up and cosmetics for one week following surgery
  • Do not use hot tubs or pools for one week following surgery
  • Refrain from sports and exercise for one week following surgery

Attending all follow-up appointments ensures your recovery is on track. At these visits, our doctors will assess your healing progress and vision improvements.
