Where We Started

Art of Optiks was created to offer a more thoughtful and personalized approach to eye care. When Timothy Haupert, OD, and Stephanie Haenes, ABOC, founded the practice in 2001, their goal was to combine advanced clinical care with a refined optical experience for patients across the Twin Cities, including Hopkins.

Our team focuses on building lasting relationships while delivering thorough eye health evaluations and clear guidance about vision care. Art of Optiks is also known for its curated eyewear collections, featuring handcrafted frames from independent designers worldwide.

With an on-site lab and experienced optical team, we manage the entire process from exam to final fitting, ensuring precision, quality, and a seamless patient experience.

Our Sevices

Vision and eye health needs change over time, which is why Art of Optiks offers a full range of services designed to support patients at every stage of life. Each service is delivered with careful attention to accuracy, comfort, and long-term visual health.

Luxury Eyewear

Eyewear should be both functional and expressive. Our boutique features a selection of handcrafted frames made with exceptional materials and distinctive design techniques. Every collection is carefully chosen for its craftsmanship, allowing patients to select eyewear that reflects their personality while maintaining comfort and durability.

Our opticians work closely with each patient to ensure the right frame fit and lens design. The result is eyewear that not only looks remarkable but also delivers optimal visual performance.

Vision Therapy

Clear eyesight alone does not always guarantee efficient vision. Many visual challenges occur when the eyes and brain struggle to work together effectively. Vision therapy is designed to strengthen this connection by improving visual coordination, focusing ability, and eye tracking.

This treatment can benefit both children and adults. Students experiencing reading difficulties, athletes seeking enhanced visual performance, and adults dealing with digital eye strain may all benefit from customized therapy programs designed to improve how the visual system functions.

Lasik Consultation

Patients considering surgical vision correction often have questions about whether procedures like LASIK are the right option. At Art of Optiks, we provide detailed consultations that evaluate corneal thickness, eye health, and prescription stability before recommending surgery./span>

Our role is to guide patients through the decision-making process with honesty and clarity. If LASIK or another procedure is appropriate, we help coordinate care with trusted surgical partners and provide thorough pre- and post-operative evaluations.

Comprehensive Eye Examination

Routine eye exams remain one of the most important steps in protecting long-term vision. Our comprehensive eye examinations include advanced imaging technology that allows our doctors to examine the retina, optic nerve, and other internal structures of the eye.

These evaluations often reveal early signs of eye disease before noticeable symptoms appear. In addition to updating prescriptions, our doctors monitor overall ocular health and provide proactive recommendations designed to preserve vision for years to come.

Contact Lens Fittings

For many patients in Hopkins, contact lenses provide freedom and convenience throughout daily activities. However, successful contact lens wear requires precise fitting and proper lens selection.

During a contact lens consultation, our doctors evaluate corneal shape, tear film quality, and lifestyle factors to determine the best lens option. Whether patients need daily disposable lenses, specialty lenses, or multifocal contacts, our goal is to provide a comfortable solution that delivers crisp and stable vision.

Pre- And Post-Surgical Care

Surgical procedures involving the eyes require careful preparation and follow-up care. Our doctors help ensure patients are fully prepared before surgery by reviewing expectations and answering any questions.

After surgery, we closely monitor healing and visual progress during follow-up visits. This ongoing care allows us to detect potential complications early while helping patients achieve the best possible outcome from their procedure.

Pediatric Exams

Vision plays an essential role in childhood development, learning, and classroom performance. Pediatric eye exams help identify visual concerns that may affect reading ability, attention, or coordination.

During these exams, our doctors evaluate visual clarity, eye alignment, and focusing skills. Detecting potential issues early allows children to receive appropriate treatment or support, helping them feel more confident both academically and socially.

Corneal Refractive Therapy

Some patients are not ideal candidates for refractive surgery but still wish to reduce their dependence on glasses or daytime contacts. Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) offers a non-surgical option that gently reshapes the cornea using specialized lenses worn overnight.

While the lenses are worn during sleep, they temporarily adjust the curvature of the eye. This allows many patients to enjoy clear vision throughout the following day without corrective eyewear. CRT is safe, reversible, and may also help slow the progression of nearsightedness in children.

Ocular Disease Management

Certain eye diseases develop gradually and may not produce symptoms until vision has already been affected. Through routine examinations and advanced imaging, our doctors monitor patients for conditions such as Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, and Diabetic Retinopathy.

When these conditions are detected early, treatment can often slow progression and protect remaining vision. Our doctors develop individualized care plans that may include monitoring, lifestyle recommendations, or coordination with medical specialists.
