Vision plays an essential role in how kids learn, move, and interact, with the majority of sensory input processed through the eyes. Our experienced team follows the American Optometric Association’s (AOA) guidelines for pediatric eye exams at key developmental stages. The first exam is recommended around six months of age, a period when visual systems are rapidly developing. Identifying potential concerns early allows us to guide healthy visual development from the very beginning.

Ongoing annual exams help track changes in vision, monitor eye health, and detect injuries or conditions before they interfere with daily life. Another essential exam is recommended approximately three years before first grade, ensuring your child is visually prepared for the demands of learning. During these visits, we evaluate visual sharpness, eye coordination, focusing ability, and tracking skills while screening for conditions such as amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (crossed eyes), color vision deficiencies, and learning-related visual challenges.

Infant Eye Exams: Birth to 24 Months

Early vision care is a powerful gift you can give your baby. As participants in the InfantSEE® program, we proudly offer comprehensive eye exams for infants between 6 and 12 months of age—an important time when visual development is closely tied to motor skills, curiosity, and learning.

Infant eye exams are gentle, thorough, and specifically tailored to your baby’s needs. Our doctors evaluate eye alignment, eye movement, focusing ability, and overall eye health to ensure development is progressing as expected. These exams help identify potential concerns early, when treatment is most effective, and outcomes are strongest.
