Plymouth is a city built around families, lakes, and four different school districts, which means the people who come to see us range from kindergartners getting a first eye checkup to grandparents keeping an eye on glaucoma. If you want an optometrist in Plymouth who can look after the whole family in one place, Art of Optiks is about fifteen minutes south at our 50th & France office, an easy run down Highway 169 to I-394. We have been providing thorough eye care for all ages since 2001, and we are happily taking new patients.
Eye Care Services for Plymouth Families
From a child’s first visit to managing an adult eye condition, Plymouth patients have one place to turn:
For eye injuries, infections, and sudden vision changes.
With so many Plymouth households raising kids in the Wayzata, Osseo, Robbinsdale, or Hopkins districts, two services come up often: pediatric eye care for school-age vision, and vision therapy for a sharp kid who is still struggling to read or focus. If an eye injury or sudden vision change happens, call, and we will try to see you the same day.
What to Expect From an Optometrist in Plymouth
Whether the patient is five or seventy-five, the visit starts the same way: a look at your history and your vision, then a measurement of your prescription.
From there, your optometrist examines the health of the eye with retinal imaging and an optic nerve assessment, which is how we catch glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic eye disease, often well before you would notice anything is wrong.
Because the back of the eye gives a direct view of your blood vessels, a routine eye checkup can even flag early signs of diabetes or high blood pressure. You leave knowing what we found and what to do about it. Most adults are due every one to two years, while kids, contact lens wearers, and anyone with diabetes do better with a yearly visit.
Why Choose Art of Optiks
Art of Optiks is an independent, doctor-owned eye clinic, founded in 2001 by Timothy Haupert, OD, and Stephanie Haenes, ABOC. For a family, the appeal is simple: our optometrists, Dr. Timothy Haupert and Dr. Victoria Whitman, set their own pace, so a kid’s nervous first exam and a parent’s complicated prescription both get the time they need from the same eye doctor.
Board-certified optometrists who manage real eye conditions, not just hand out prescriptions
Retinal imaging in routine exams, so we can track a child’s developing eyes and an adult’s eye health year to year
An in-house lab with on-site technicians for precise lenses and faster turnaround, which matters when a kid breaks their glasses
A 4.9-star rating across more than 200 Google reviews
We are in network with VSP, EyeMed, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medica, HealthPartners, and UnitedHealthcare, and open access for most plans, including Davis and Spectera. Call, and we willcheck your benefits before you come in.

I highly recommend Dr. Whitman and her incredible team. The care there is of high level from reception to checkout. Dr. Whitman is very kind and does a wonderful job explaining recommended changes and/or treatment!
great place for eye care/glasses.... from making the appt to completion they are efficient; flexible. The expertise of Dr. Whitman was excellent/thorough, surpassing the optometry skills/knowledge within my eye doc's office...hmmm. I wouldn't hesitate to have Art of Optiks be part of your eye care plan!
I have a very difficult prescription or so it seems as I have been to many eye drs over the last few years just trying to see well! I was thrilled with the eye exam and help
finding a new pair of glasses! I will be calling the Art of Optiks my new complete eye care home. I am very relieved to have found a place I can trust for my eyecare.
I have been a patient at Art of Optiks for the last two years and for the first time I actually look forward to my annual eye exam. Dr. Hollenbach is thorough, explains things and is always willing to answer any questions. Dr. Hollenbach and the rest of the staff are transparent regarding what my insurance will cover and what I can expect to pay, even advising me on how best to use my vision benefits. I recently bought glasses here and the staff provided great suggestions and overall a great experience.
Excellent customer service and Dr Victoria really cares about giving you the best possible results and final product. Amazing product selection and atmosphere. Recommended Wayzata location.
I love this place. They care. They give you excellent help even if you’re not buying glasses and just stop in for a quick adjustment. They have an excellent curated selection of frames. Support our local business, they deserve it!
Always a top-notch staff from the exams to picking out new frames. They have the latest boutique styles that put them above the rest. Never had e I had a problem with glasses from here - all very durable and fashionable.
In the last two weeks I have been to six optical stores looking for a fun pair of frames. With a narrow bridge I have to have nose pads. But with a thick prescription I need frames that hide that thickness. Finding something that looks good and will function properly is difficult. I walked into art optics and the 1st 1 pair of glasses she picked were the best I had tried on in two weeks. But then she changed her mind and grabbed a second pair. They were absolutely perfect. We tried a variety of others but she knew best. They came home with me and I am a very happy camper!!!
The optometry exam is thorough, convenient and efficient. While the frame selection is my favorite, the exam is my first here, but I’m very happy with the service.
Great customer service, friendly staff, nice clinic and in a nice location. Dr. Whitman also went above and beyond to help my mom get a contact lens that alot of places normally don't specialize in, very grateful for her help.
Dr.Whitman was professional, helpful and overall a delight. She helped ease and calm my anxiety as well. I highly recommend visiting art of optiks for any current or future eye issues / glasses needs.
I had a very positive experience getting an eye exam with Dr. Brett Hollenbach. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to work with. I would recommend him highly.
I had an eye issue happen on a Saturday that needed to be looked at right away. The lovely folks at Art of Optiks got me right in and got me checked out. Super friendly people, so helpful. They are now going to be my go-to ophthalmologist from now on! Highly recommend.
I had something stuck in my eye that I couldn’t wash out. Dr Whitman was able to see me, who’s not even a patient there, right before they closed on a Saturday. The staff is super knowledgeable & friendly, providing an overall a great experience
Doctor Whitman always cares about my eyes and has suggestions for their care. New diagnostic equipment keeps arriving making the best diagnostics possible. The friendly staff and eye ware selection has kept me a patient for many years.
I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Whitman last week for an acute eye issue! To my surprise, she got me in same day for an exam (even as a new patient to the clinic). I was so impressed with the customer service and the detailed exam, and felt a huge big sense of relief to get clear answers and solutions to my concern. Dr. Whitman even called the next day to follow up. Highly recommend, and I’ll definitely be going back!
Schedule an Eye Exam in Plymouth
Ready to book the family in, or want a thorough optometrist in Plymouth for a specific concern? We would love to see you. Book online or call (612) 440-2020. Saturday appointments make school schedules easier, new patients are always welcome, and we accept most major vision and medical insurance plans.
A first full exam is generally recommended around age three, then yearly. We see children of all ages, including little ones who are not yet reading, and we keep the visit relaxed and kid-friendly.
Is a school vision screening the same as an eye exam?
No. A school screening is a quick check that can miss focusing, teaming, and eye health issues. A comprehensive eye exam looks at the whole picture, which is why many kids who pass a screening still benefit from a real exam.
Do you offer myopia control for kids whose prescription keeps climbing?
Yes. Options like Ortho-K, lenses worn overnight, and other approaches can help slow how fast a child’s nearsightedness progresses. We will talk through what fits your child during a fitting.
How far is your office from Plymouth?
